Home Prices Post Small Recovery From Summer Slump

Home prices perked up in September. Compared with last year, the median sales price is up 1.08%. The nine-month appreciation trend is 5.66%.

Those are the numbers for the area monitored by NETAR. Zillow economists have upgraded their 12-month U.S. price outlook to 1.2%. Its local metro area outlooks are: Kingsport-Bristol up 2.8%, Johnson City metro up 2.7%, Greeneville metro up 3.7%. NAR’s U.S. outlook is 2%.

The NETAR price timeline is running closer to last year’s price, after a softening trend that began in June. Currently, it’s eking out a small recovery. That recovery is expected to keep prices above the October, November seasonal slump.
