Washington Co. TN leads Tri-Cities in high-end home permits; Sullivan sees increase from last year

Permitting for Tri-Cities high-end homes was unchanged this year from the first six months of last year.

During both years 35 permits were pulled, according to the most current Residential Building Permit Trend Report from The Market Edge.

High-end homes are defined in the report as those that are 4,000 sq. ft. or more or have a construction cost of a minimum of $400,000.

Although the total didn’t change from the first half of last year, the distribution mix did.

Washington Co. TN led the region with 14 new permits, down from 17 last year.

Washington Co. VA had 13 new permits this year up from 10 last year.

Sullivan Co. had seven permits, up from three last year.

Carter Co. joined the group this year with one permit, while Greeneville, which had five high-enders permitted last year, had none during the first half of this year.
