All-cash sales dominated Q1 housing market in Northeast Tennessee

Cash sales

Cash was king for Northeast Tennessee home sales during the first three months of this year – even though four of the  local markets in the RealtyTrac Q1 Home Sales Report saw their cash sales decline from Q1 last year.

Still, all-cash sales dominated the market in Q1. Every county in the region had a higher share of cash sales than the national 31.8% share.

Four local counties showed more than half of all sales were cash only.

Here’s a snapshot of the Q1 cash sales by county compared to chase sales during the same period last year.

Carter – 55.6%, up from 48.8%

Greene – 50.6%, up from 42.1%

Hawkins – 51.4%, up from 50.3%
