TN jobless rate drops for fourth straight month


 

Tennessee’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.8% in May.

The national primary rate was 5.5%.

May was the fourth consecutive monthly decline and the number of unemployed people is the lowest since 2008.

Nonfarm employment was up 10,000 jobs from April. The biggest increase came in the leisure/hospitality, education/health services and trade/transportation/utilities.

County and city employment report release is scheduled next week.
