Kingsport-Bristol new home sales flat, cost per sq. ft. only increasing metric


New home sales were flat in October, according to the current update by Builder Magazine and Metrostudy.

During the 12-month period ending in October there were 55 new home closing in the four-county Kingsport-Bristol MSA.

Only one data point in the update was higher than October 2013. The average price per square foot increased to $81 from $73.

The average price was $148,633, down from $222,300 last year.

The average mortgage was also lower – $131,585 from $179,958.

The average size of a new home was 1, 740 sq. ft.  down from 2,508 sq. ft. last year.
