WSJ report shows Kingsport-Bristol, Johnson City MSAs in job loss category

A Wall Street Journal story on job creation since the Great Recession shows essentially the same story that Core Data has been writing about for a while.

The Journal’s examination of the just released BLS data show the Kingsport – Bristol MSA has 1,963 fewer than it did before the recession and the Johnson City MSA has 4,461 fewer jobs.

A search function for the data is a the bottom of the Journal’s story.
Here’s a link to the August employment (not jobs) data for the Tri-Cities and its three major city markets show area employment is at its lowest level since 2002. Kingsport is the only city that now has more employment than it did before the recession.
