Six Kingsport job sectors where women earn more than men

I know there’s a gender wage gap. I cite it all the time in blog reports and economic profiles for clients. But here’s something that doesn’t get as much notice.

There are six job areas where the median wage for women exceeds what men get. And not all of them are where “common knowledge” would dictate.

Of course these exceptions to the rule are not enough to even the pay disparity.

The median salary for a male full-time worker in Kingsport is $43,311 while it’s $36,094 for full-time women workers.

Here’s the numbers from the 2012 American Community Survey that was released last month.
