Johnson City back on the IMI – all Tenn. MSAs now ranked as improved housing markets


Johnson City was among the 49 Metropolitan Statistical Areas added to the National Association of Home Builders/First American Improving Markets Index (IMI) in September. It dropped off the IMI in April when job losses pulled one of the three key housing indicators below the six consecutive months improvement criteria. Kingsport-Bristol has managed to keep its spot on the IMI despite the four-county region’s less than stellar new residential building permit performance.
